We finally got to the top of the front part of the building.
Here's a shot back at the rear spires.

And a shot down onto the uncompleted altar.

Gaudi used color in some interesting ways.

Like these "fruit columns". What the heck is this all about?

Who knows. But detail here was amazing.

A shot of the sun setting through one of the few completed stain glass windows.

After our trip though the church, we went down into the museum. Here are some
of Gaudi's designs.

And some more. Carl was eating this stuff up.

A shot at the artists who are still working on this thing.

Here's a crazy model used to figure out weight distribution for domed arches.

The Sagrada Familia looks even more out of this world by night. It was one of THE
most amazing things we saw on our entire trip. But oddly enough, there was another
sight in Barcelona that had us even more excited...

OH MY GOD!!!

But the happiness was tragically short-lived. This was still most definitely European coffee.

A sad example of us trying to do too much in not enough time. This is Gaudi's
Park Gnuell, shot over a locked fence as we arrived too close to closing time.

Still, Barcelona is a hell of a place to wander about in at night. Which is exactly what we
did. But our departure time came far too quickly. Soon it was time to head onward...
into the far cheaper south of Spain.
